SGT - Station Garage Taplow

K964 CGM was originally sold by SGT in Taplow, Maidenhead. Anyone else here whose car came from there also? Interested in any dealership peculiarities such as dealership window sticker, number plates, tax disc holders etc. Either the items themselves or a picture to get something made up. I did find a picture of a SGT window sticker from 1997. The garage itself has since closed.

Sorry I didn't clarify. They reopened solely as garage/workshop on a new location now. Dealership has since closed. The original site was sold off to a developer and is now apartments.

Have you contacted SGT?

When I contracted the garage that sold my Esprit to its previous owner (in 1985), they were only too happy to talk to me about it. Offered me new number plates and some current stickers for free.

Yes, sent them an email initially, thought I'd check here also whilst waiting for a response.

So, got a reply from the current SGT. As I suspected, they are a new company operating under the same name but different owners. They have no access to any information on the old company.

The same kind of thing happened with Storm of Leicester, which is where mine was supplied from. There is still a dealer called Storm of Leicester, but it's basically a new company.

My car had a Storm sticker on the original windscreen, which sadly I couldn't get off when the windscreen was replaced. If anyone does have any Storm literature, dealer stickers, tax disc holders, etc. I would be interested to see them.

On a similar subject, was anyone's car supplied by White Dove Lotus of Maesycwmmer, near Caerphilly? It's not far from where I live and a friend of mine was a storeman there in the 80s.; he clearly remembers Excels and Esprits being sold and coming in for service, etc. I can't find any pictures or details anywhere though. The garage building is still a car sales business, now called something different and dealing in Japanese imports. White Dove still exists in Cardiff, it moved in 2007. For a while it was a Lotus dealer but is now Skoda, Suzuki, and others.

Being a local I can tell you that Storm also sold Jeep & Chrysler so a request on forums for those marques might produce some results.

Also, Storm were one of the sponsors of the Le Mans V8 Esprits in the early 90's - perhaps why the current company has an Esprit as its banner on the website homepage - and there might be something in the Le Mans history or of Chamberlain? racing

I have bought three new Subarus from the original SGT over the years. The site was indeed sold to developers, but the former sales manager set up the new SGT on his own a short distance away and still runs it, but as a previous post says, it is not a Lotus (or Subaru) dealership any more, though until very recently (maybe still do) they sold new Morgans.

I have used them to service my Esprit V8 in the past and also my daily driver now. I can thoroughly recommend them - great customer service and always do great job.
