So having bought everything to rebuild the suspension, I have decided it's too much for me having watched the Neil Donaldson youtube saga.
So where can I find someone to rebuild it is the question. Of course there is LotusBits but they are a very long way away fro East Sussex. Does anybody know of an outfit that could do this worlk in the south of England?

Re: Lotus Garage
Any mechanic outfit will be able to do it. Look for mobile fitters.
You should be able to give it a go yourself.
Note Neils opening line is "I'm a useless home mechanic" , so that may be the reason why he had issues.

Re: Lotus Garage
The only special bit of kit you need is a spring compressor and there are some good and some ugly versions.
This is a job you do on the car, you cannot take the suspension arm to the local garage.
Do not try tying up with string, tyraps, only the right tool.

Re: Lotus Garage
Compressing springs is a hazardous procedure unless you are well acquainted with the correct process.
I'm not saying don't do it, just be sure to know how to do it before starting.

Any small, independent garage, run by someone over 55 (maybe 60 these days!) who's been in the business all their life, will be more than capable of doing anything on your car that isn't highly Lotus-specific. These businesses are pure gold, and need our custom!

Re: Lotus Garage
Hi Will,
I have a 1987 Lotus Excel SE, I have a local garage Just Historic Cars just 10 minutes from me. They are very competent and I have been using them for the past 3 years, since I have owned the car. They are very knowledgeable. Worth a visit. https://justhistoriccars.co.uk/
Ps I live near Battle East Sussex, are you close to there?
