1988 Excel SE. Brief Update

Stuck the battery back on my SORN'd Excel on Sunday. I have not fired it up for a few weeks. Started first time!

Must get more use out of it this year...only 300 miles in 2009!

Need to do the cambelt, will probably get this done at Paul Mattys in Bromsgrove.

Quite a few other jobs need to be done too:

There is a smell of fuel in the boot. Apparently this is caused by a degraded breather pipe from the fuel filler neck. I have to take the back bumper off to change it...good old Lotus. I have seen an article on here about doing the job, so I will probably do that myself

The wheels could do with a refurb and while the NCTs have plenty of tread on them they are at least 12 years old and will have to go. I think that are contributing to a slight shake I am getting at 70ish mph. I might try and get a set of the oZs from the 89 MY, but them seem to be getting rare now

The saggy headliner thing that plagues the Excel has hit mine too so I would like to get that put right, but they might have to wait a while.

I aim to do a few jobs at time, slowly improving the condition of the Excel and therby increasing my enjoyment of it.

I will try and post pictures and updates on here of how I progress over the coming months....
