currently doing a Jaguar XKR v8 :)

v6 should be doable...

pretty sure you could get an adapter plate made up for the V6 to bolt on to the W58 gearbox, just a couple of engine mounts and jobs a carrot...

the Evora GTE V6 would be nice... 440bhp naturally aspirated...

can pick them up for about €40,000 :)

woodsport love this engine:

they have put it into an Elise, and lots of MR2 Mk2's...

they are pretty much the experts on that lump...

good info here: http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/showth ... p-v6-build

And don't forget to put a hole in your bonnet BEFORE you close it after completing the transplant!

Hi Alan,

A LS1 out of a GM Corvette also fits in with not a lot of work (at least for an engine transplant) according to my calculations. I will let you know how I go by early next year. If you do the LS1 conversion you will not need to cut the bonnet as the engine does not have a high intake manifold like the Toyota V8 + you will have around 350hp on tap.

Cheers,

Anybody ever put the 910 Sport 300 engine, (Esprit), in an Excel? I was looking at some pics of it recently. It seems to have a fairly low profile, if not the same as a 912 engine or does the chargecooler get in the way? That would be interesting!! And in keeping!

there was an esprit turbo engine in an excel a while ago...

didnt look like a nice easy install though... placement of turbo was horrible and right up against the fibreglass... not ideal...

I did the factory tour, and heritage tour around the classic team Lotus bit ( if you havnt been make an effort, its brilliant ). The supercharged V6 models were in full flow ( cameras not allowed in the factory ) and it looks quite a compact engine, but its a front sump and might need a bit of crossmember massaging. Coincidentally, even lotus use an adapter plate onto the transmission, looked like a piece of 20mm alloy. they fit the supercharger to the top of the engine tho, which would poke thro the bonnet of the excel, but a home built engine could have a roterex hidden down in the engine bay.
I took lots of photos at CTL tho, after you get the tour they just leave you to wander where you want, and photo what you want.

ps, 7 1/2 hours of driving the excel and it never missed a beat.
