Re: RV8 build
Looks like I owe you a pint Dunc. Spaced the bellhousing out by three washers and second gear doesnt appear to slip, so Im just making a proper spacer out of 6mm aluminium plate. I will let you know the result. Just shows the value of the knowledge out there on this forum.

Re: RV8 build
Can you guess where the missing bit is,
[/URL]
Well its in place between the bellhousing and the engine. Its a 6mm plate split into three sections so it allowed me to fit it by loosening the bolts and sliding it in place. Bolted it up and tested revealing a very strong bite and took off like a scalded cat up to my 3000rpm running in limit. MOT next.

Well done. I suppose the grass makes it ecologically sound as well.

Re: RV8 build
It passed..... hooray
Still got a few snagging jobs to do. Choke cable fitting at the back of the dash broke and its a pig to start without it so thats on the list but they arnt easy to get hold of, I think its a Rover metro bit tho, the carbs obviously got a bit of dirt in the idle circuit as its lumpy but ok on the road so awaiting a gasket kit, but otherwise ok.
As for driving.... it sounds totally different, a bit like a nascar car on tickover due to the issues listed earlier and some exhaust joints that need sealing properly and are spitting slightly (on the list) but its tempting to let it rev because it sounds so cool up to the 3000rpm running in limit. Taking of cool, its good. The standard excel rad is coping fine runs at 85 degrees gets up to 90 ticking over until the fans cut in and it promptly goes down to 85. I left it in the garage nose in on the hottest day so far and it didnt overheat. What happens if the traffic suddenly stops on the motorway might be another thing but so far its good. The handling feels unchanged from pre conversion. The way it takes off tho is totally different, the torque makes it squat down and take off and a twitch of the accelerator in higher gears means instant thrust. Another job on the list is the diff, its still got the standard (+ LSD ) diff, which is fun but too low. I need to get my 3.54 in with the LSD swapped over, but I will run it in for the summer with the standard diff and do that later in the year but I might temporarily put my 3.7 one in just to keep it running whilst playing with the 3.54.
I will do some photos soon and post em. Pete Boole and me might be going to the Hoveringham Capri club show next week end weather permitting, and its booked in for the Hope show on the 21st so hopefully it will be behaving for those days out.

Looks like it's always been there Bash
It would be interesting to read how it drives and sounds.
