Throttle Cable

Post by colinplod »

 Yesterday, started to drive to Thruxton for Race Marshal training, started to do an overtake, footdown, nothing, all dials as good as always, no throttle, drove at 5 mph on idle to a safe place. As I was in my orange jump suit etc straight into looking at the problem. Cable snapped at the pedal end. lying upside down in footwell I couldn't see how to fix it on the Road. Called AA, nice man came, he was lying upside quite quickly. Kept trying to see how to fix it for me to save waiting for relay (post snow). No luck. 4 hours wait for lift home. Straight on net to order parts.
BUT how the hell do you fit the new cable
ANY ides people :D

Hi,
I had a wonderfull time recently trying to fit a new one,any way there should be a cylindrical shaped metal bit on the end of the cable this slots into a metal loop piece which pivots on the top of the accelerator pedal, once you have the cylindrical piece in the metal loop you must pivot it back to lock the end of the cable in and prevent it detatching!! Hope this is some help.........by the way it is a real benefit if you're a contortionist!!

OUCH :o :o :o

Sometimes I think that all they do is put the part in a bag/box with a Lotus badge and x2/4/6 the price.
Some of them are just driving a racing car but some are racing drivers.

To be phil o' sophical for a moment, Plato once said that all throttle cables were just a reflection of the perfect throttle cable.

Why pay for the perfect throttle cable, when Europa Spares, Car builder Solutions, (12ft for £26), Vehicle Wiring Products or almost any other Kit car supplier has them.

It only pulls a lever after all!!!
