S1 Elite/éclat “pinhole” dash light

Post by Alan_M »

My 79 éclat is missing the small light that illuminates the central part of the dash. The one that is on the roof panel next to the interior courtesy light.
Would anyone have one ?
Thanks

Not sure if I've got one either. ISTR that it's a bit of a Heath-Robinson affair. Maybe we could replace it with a pre-focussed LED version with a dedicated holder? Isn't there a resistor in the circuit as well?

From what I’ve read it uses a 2.2v MES lens end bulb with the voltage being stepped down by the resistor you mentioned.
SJ have the caps with the hole, but not the bulb holder.

Cheers.

Looking at more styles I saw this listing and realised I recognised them as I’m sure they’re used for the rear interior courtesy lights in the quarter panels , but with a clear lens.

Did they use the same for the pinhole bulb holder?

Here is a photo of mine. It's just a bulb socket on a tiny piece of Tufnol type material (you can see the remains of a bulb):

And a photo of one I have on loan:

I'll need to find the roll bar cover to investigate how this attaches to the rest!

Even I'm having trouble with photos - can't work out how to re-size for screen

Unfortunately not.

I’ve given up on Onedrive. Started using a free Flickr account now - seems a lot easier than current Onedrive

A few pictures of the actual unit. Sorry about the quality.

Manufacturer is Arcolectric. Only other writing on it is England, both on the back near the spades.
It is retained by the plastic barbs you can see in second pic, either side, in a 3/4" hole. - Pushes in from the outside.

Looks nothing like mine Tony! Or the one I had on loan. Could yours have been replaced at some point or do you think it's original? Maybe different for different years?
