Was it just me?

Post by doulou »

Having attended the show on Sunday I left feeling somewhat dissapointed!
I thought that the trade stands other than Mikes "Lotus Bits" where poorly presented with limited stocks, plenty of bling jewellery though. Maybe I was expecting too much but it seems to me that the event is becoming less attended each year trade wise. I found walking around the car park chatting to owners more interesting.
Like I said maybe it's just me but if any one agrees or dissagree's let me know

Agree, lots of bling bits for the "Elise Generation".

Some of the show cars were pretty special though. My fav was the Type 64 Indy car 8)

This was my second visit to Donnington.

My feeling was that there was less Excel stuff to buy, but more Excels there in total.

I still managed to spend some money out of the blue (bought a new fabricated door beam of Lotusbits).

That indy car was amazing.... the most complicated steering ever??

lol - it actually couldn't have been more complicated!

The exhaust manifolds were a work of art too.

Why doesn't my Excel have a nice system like that, instead of the rubbish cast one?

There was also a four wheel drive F1 Lotus which I remember seeing the late, great Jochen Rindt drive at Oulton Park in the Gold Cup a long time ago. I was marshalling at the end of pits and judging by the look on his face he had had a hard race. It did finish well though.
