89 CX style door mirror

Post by johnf »

I had a link from this site (I think or maybe Esprit world) that had a supplier of CX mirrors and other Citroen bits. I can't find it and I was about to order two new mirrors. Can anyone here remebr or point me in the right direction, thanks.

Have just ordered a pair of mirrors as they are on sale at 105 EUR each complete, bargain. If only the Pound was in better condition against the Euro.

how difficult is it to fit these mirrors to a 84 model ?

these are much nicer than the quarterlight ones

The CX mirrors are mounted through the doorskin rather than the quarter glass so you'd have to replace the glass and cut some holes in the skin, not insurmountable but rather final unless you are happy working with glass fibre.

If your existing mirrors are manual then you'd also have to hook up electrics and a set of switchgear.

I prefer the quarterlight mounting point (even though I've got an SE with CX types) it makes more sense of the lines/window line of the car.

In fact I prefer the dropped door window line of the Elte/Eclat. Its much more distinctive and emphasizes more of the wedge shape; a door mounted CX type mirror would then make more sense and not jar against the straighter door window line of the Excel

Granted the actual mirror design of the quarterlight mounted types could be improved and be more stylish.

Just my opinion of course.

New mirrors arrived this week, look great and no wobbling. Need to be painted in body colour though ...

Does the Excel use the heated glass as standard or am I going to left with a spare set of wires.

John

PS 235 EUR inc postage for the pair
