Hethel : Arrangements
OK - everyone who contacted me about Hotel accommodation has a room reserved in the Holiday Inn. Shirley and I will be arriving there on the Friday night and staying till Monday morning.
Display cars : How about a "Red, White and Blue" theme ? Looking at the volunteers it looks like
Dave72h2 : Red
CrogW11597 : White
KevW : Blue (I know, I know - you haven't actually volunteered but since you keep winning prizes up here....)
Display cars will need extra passes - which I have - and will be our entrants into the event concours competition (polish the inside of everything too please!).
Donna at Hethel has asked if we can try to have display cars on site for 9 a.m. on Sunday (I suggested that that all depended on the barbecue on Saturday) and we will have some extra exhibitor passes for those who are manning the marquee for the start of the event.
I aim to be onsite at Hethel around 3 p.m. on Saturday with the banner, Mac + new DVD, ancient projector and merchandise (polos and Ts) to claim our marquee and make sure we have been given enough tables & chairs. That gives 3 hours for general setup/chitchat etc. before the barbeque kicks off.
Sunday : I propose that we convoy from the hotel, aiming to leave there no later than about 9:30 a.m. so we attempt to park in a nice neat row with all the mirrors in line.
We still need to arrange : display boards, posters, projection screens & any other IT stuff.
We also need to solve the power problem - does anyone have access to a portable generator for the Sunday or will we have to hire one ? (around £25 for the day + fuel) - OR does anyone have a nice long-life leisure battery which we could use to power at least one laptop ? (I have a 12 volt adapter for one of mine)

Re: Hethel : Arrangements
I will be driving down on Sat morning - 3 to 4 hours. On the hotel web site I think it says check in after 4.00pm so I will go straight to Hethel.
Angus - I see you aim to be at Hethel by 3.00pm (You put 'am' in your post) so I will aim to do the same and can help with any setting up. I too will stay for the BBQ. I can also man the stand as required on Sunday. Go home Sunday evening.
Don't know anyone with a generator i'm afraid,
Cheers,
Phil

That's fine by me although I know there are better examples than mine out there.
We will be arriving Saturday afternoon and leaving Monday morning so can help with setting up and dismantling.

Re: Hethel : Arrangements
Sorry Angus I won’t be able to display this year as a new arrival (baby No. 5
) is due mid September so may need to make a quick get away.
I have most of the brochures for the Excel now and will laminate up for display if it would be useful. I have also put them in power point.
I can bring a laptop and projector screen etc.
Trying to borrow a generator hopefully around 600w
Any thing ells require let me know and I will try help?
If I do have to fly off I can leave the posters and generator to collect from someone on a future date.
Hope there are plans afoot to release the APX as a seven seater Lotus will be required in the future If not Shannon will have to learn to drive in a second Excel in six or seven years time.
See you there at 3pm on Saturday to help
Craig

Have you worked out what's causing them yet ?crogw11597 wrote:Sorry Angus I won’t be able to display this year as a new arrival (baby No. 5) is due mid September so may need to make a quick get away.
Anyone else have a WHITE car that they would like to display/enter for the concours ?

Angus, email sent - didn't risk pm in light of your experiences.
Unfortunately Chris can't make it this year (display boards).
I can bring my projection screen. I also have the posters, pictures from before.

Re: Hethel : Arrangements
Chris, being a star, has arranged for some new display boards which hopefully I will get delivered to my home and bring them to Hethel on Saturday. He is also sending the new poster.

Alan / Angus
Good news on the poster boards.
I have all but two of the Excel brochure scanned into power point and also printed and laminated on A4 ( I am missing the 1983 silver covered brochure and the Lotus range brochure circa 1990 with the red Elan on).
I have also acquired a 600w generator which will hopefully be delivered in the next few days

Re: Hethel : Arrangements
That's great news Craig (especially the genny - I was just about to either hire or buy one myself). I'll bring assorted laptops + TV tuner (Monza GP on Sunday too) and a projector if I can find one in the mess that is the temporary store room (annual change of office in progress).

Those helping with the setup on Saturday, please PM me so I can send you a phone number and suggest a meeting point. You won't get onsite on Saturday without a special pass (which I have - so I'll need to hand them over).

Re: Hethel : Arrangements
Hmmm - just been checking the power ratings on my Mac & the old projector. Each needs about 360W - so I've booked another genny from HSS for the weekend - just to be sure. Might need some volunteers to bring petrol for them though.
