Lumbar support

Post by RRHANS »

My lumbar support is leaking :(
I have found replacements at Moss that are supposed to be fitted to mx5 seats.
How difficult are they to replace on full leather seats?
I have ordered one for the passenger seat to.

All warnings, suggestions welcome.

Just noticed RRhans post about lumbar support. I only recently realised that mine has this fitted but the small "hand-pump" is missing. Does anyone know where I can get one?
John.

I took the seat apart a few months ago to replace some crumbling foam with varying success. If I remember correctly, the lumbar is just a bladder which sits on a cut out in the foam.
You should be able to split the seat back from base without having to take the seat out by undoing 2 allen bolts - make sure you see how the spring goes inon the other side first. I took the whole seat out but if I did it again wouldleave it bolted in.
I have leather which is secured to the frame with clips at the bottom - easy to remove. I think you can get to the bladder from there to save undoing all the cords which pull the leather in to shape - a real pain to put back.
Hope this helps

Don´t laugh at me for the solution but cheapest "Lotus handpump" is available at ......your local adultshop.
I went in and bought the cheapest (toy) with handpump.
Available in black and fleshcolor depending on your interior

So you've got a full blow-up lady sewn into your seat?

The original Lotus "old lady" has developed a leak so I addopted two fresh full blow up, Mazda mx5 "Geisha´s" to massage our back!
Glad my wife is not checking my forum activities.
Previous "pump" tip came from a friend, who has a friend, who knows some friends that....you know know what I mean...
Since I am happily married I would not have known of their existence either.
Perhaps I should add a post in the alternative parts thread or recommended suppliers

I even have a picture of one of them, They are twins so only one pic.

Let your imagination go!!!!!
I´ll bet some off you will see things in this picture that have not crossed my mind yet!!

Ahhh! Well!!
What can one say! In passing the "hand-pump" seems just like the same sort of device a doctor uses when taking blood preasure. Will investigate further!
