Hi
I am a new owner of my second Lotus.
First was an Eclat which I didn't get on with too well as the suspension was rock hard and the drivetrain very vibration prone.
However the Excel is a different beast and very useable.
But my heater matrix may need replacement as the heater is always hot.
Mine is a 1986 2.2 Excel SE - I gather I may be able to take the matrix out via the engine bay? Is this correct
Thnks

Re: Heater Matrix
It sounds more like your heater valve is faulty, if you look under the bonnet at where the pipes for the matrix come out, one of the pipes goes into a valve, check the operation of the cable that leads to it. it may just be missing a cable retaining clip

Re: Heater Matrix
I agree. If the heater is always hot, the matrix is working properly - but the valve that feeds it is probably jammed open.
Many on here would kill for a hot heater matrix!

Re: Heater Matrix
I will check. I never thought of that , hot water must be getting there an there are no visible leaks. Thanks

Re: Heater Matrix
The heater valve was seized on mine when it was repaired last year. Chris at Foulds Motors found a new replecement which I think came from a Celica. Might be worth a quick email to him to find out. cjfoulds@aol.com.
