Agreed that the stands would not survive the wind. Banner would be good - must look for some supports.

Hi Craig. Ha ha, you're right. The damn' thing is just too long to fit through the boot aperture. It would fit across the inside of the boot, but I can't get it in because of the overhang. So I've posted it through the passenger window across the back seat for now. It fits great in the roof box, which is where the camping gear usually goes.........

Three broom stays (is that the right word?) sharpened with a knife work OK for Lotus Club Litchfield. Attached with plastic ties.

Space confirmed. No passes or formal booking - just "remind Alan (Morgan) that you've booked for 6 cars" when you arrive.

I won't be able to make it due to work commitments - just signed a nice new contract and need to get on top of some admin. (it's not so great being the boss). I'm in Milton Keynes on Thursday during the day, then off to Leicester for an overnight and some meetings. I can bung the pop-up banners in the boot if anyone wants to pick them up. Ditto merchandise (fleece hats might be popular if CC follows its usual pattern ? ).

Any pictures yet for those who couldn't make it? Thought I would try, but just back from a week abroad on Thursday, plus a stinking cold and jetlag from the flight meant a lie in this morning rather than a 5 hour drive....

Hi Angus, if you come to Castle Combe, please bring the sunshine with you! Gazebo Mk2 repelled the traditional showers - Image. It was great to see so many Excel-ers there (and V8 Elite, and Martin's M100 Turbo as well). We met Gary and Mel again from Cambridgeshire Club Lotus, and the inimitable Mr B Chapman (N Staffs CL) who provided a very vivid description of the poor grip on the exit from Bobbies.... Luckily I benefited from Alan's in-car tuition and did not venture off track , unlike the chap in the white Excel who spun off into the infield at Folly and mowed his own path through the long grass. Fortunately the car was drivable (though the alternator bracket seemed to have bent) - I hope he got home OK.

I couldn't get any decent track photos (crap camera for moving objects at distance) but there was a photographer there who was taking photos of the cars in action to sell. Because our first session was closed after 3 laps (grass mowing Excel plus an incident at Quarry) I was waiting for pics from the late afternoon session that we did, but the photographer didn't have them when we tried at 4:30-ish. I hope CL will provide a link to his website so I can find some pics that I can post.

Good to see friends old and new.
I take no credit for Chris's excellent driving.
Just to clarify, Bob Chapman spun his Esprit on the lunchtime parade laps!!
Good showing of Excels and a nice V8 Eclat.
Thanks to Chris for the excellent gazebo.
We were prepared for the Castle Combe weather and it didn't let us down; it wasn't as wet as last year though, fortunately.
