once they have gone/ or started to go grey does any one have tips on how to refurb internal door handles on a 1990 excel?

Autosol plastic cleaner, it works a bit like metal polish/ toothpaste, granules go and abrade any deposits and buff up the surface of the plastic. use something like this in preference to the sprays which are designed to simply put a residue on.
