4 point harness

To stay in my seat on track days I'm looking for a 4 poit harness and a way to mount it.

Any tips?

Can't say anything about currently available harnesses, but you can mount it to the normal side points and to the back-seat lower points while still keeping the standard F&R belts in place. When not in use most of it can be tucked under the rear seats, with the rest by the side of the driver's seat.

To avoid the shoulder straps slipping off cross them over between mounts and seat.

Don't forget to lock out the seat QR tilt mechanism too. On my early seats a simple pin in a hole drilled in the right place did it to RAC Scrutineers' satisfaction.

Well this is how i did mine:

you MUST have seats with harness holes fitted, if you dont during an accident the harnesses can shift from your shoulder...
if you have harnesses and seats without harness holes you run the risk of being thrown out of them no matter how well you secure youself.
i can not stress that point enough.

my seats are actually up for sale for £150 the pair....

my harnesses are Schroth 3", which were £125 each, fully FIA approved.

i used Jen at MSAR-Safety, and they provided B brackets which bolt to the rear seatbelt mounting points (please make sure that you have the mike taylor stainless steel versions of the brackets at the old ones are about as strong as cheese)...

very quick and easy to install, lift rear seats, pull out seat belt mounting point bolts, add b-brackets (like a washer) and do back up, then just clip in the harnesses. Even better they un-clip in 3 seconds if you want to take rear passengers too.

Please make sure you cross them if mounting like this! very important!
Im getting rid of my seats as im binning off the rear seats and putting in Tillet B6 seats (lighter).

oh and the lap belts are just bolted to the seat bases (via the bolts on the sides).

Thanks Oz and Mike,

Looks like an easy job.
I don't have the holes in my seat but read somewhere that there are straps mounted behind the headrests doing the same job.

I will think about a new seat for track-days,

you can get seats for less than £200 a pair... as i said selling mine for £150 (as i paid £240 for the pair a2 years ago, and have only done about 5000 miles with them)
they are perfect.

If I use the rear belt mounting point I don't like the angle of the belts, its more than the maximum 20 degrees recommended in the manual.
Would a steel plate the full width of the rear seat, behind the rear seat (on the outside) be good enough to mount the belts?

And Oz, which bolts on the side of the seats do you mean, I tried the original seatbelt mounting points but there is not enough space between the seat and the car.

i believe more than 20 degrees and you just have to cross them (ensure they are flat)

i think i swapped out the side bolts for longer ones for this...
