I am angry beyond words at the moment!! So thoughtless to take away part of a 25 yr old classic car just for a souvenier of trophy. Either teenagers or adult with IQ below 80!

Re: Nose badge nicked.
As long as they didn't knacker the paint getting it off it's just a badge. I had a lovely Capri Ghia years ago, freshly painted, and someone took all the badges off with a chisel.

No - I was very lucky the badge had only been fixed on with adhesive and not bolted on - seems that it came off quite easily. New one is £80 believe it or not! Will try for second hand first.
It must have been heart-breaking to have your car damaged like that!
The moral of the story - DONT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED FOR THREE HOURS IN THE OVERFLOW CAR PARK IN ARUNDEL ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON!

Re: Nose badge nicked.
Just read that again and it doesn't sound right - its the moral of my story not yours!
I drove the car back from Arundel and put it away - didn't realise the badge was missing till today!

The nose badge on the older cars is supposed to be bolted on, but I always take the nuts off and use a bit of adhesive, for occasions just like this!

Re: Nose badge nicked.
Got a couple of old ones from Lotus bits - I agree - not going to bolt them on - will just use a bit of adhesive - this whole thing would have been ten times worse if the bodywork had been damaged!
Mark.
PS - not quite so angry now and might not torture the culprit to death if I met him!

They turn up on eBay occasionally, and are generally cheap. Here's one that went for 11 quid earlier this year:marky wrote:Some lowlife piece of scum filth with dubious parentage nicked my nose badge. hope you can still get the oval ones!!

Incidentally does anyone know how would you remove or re-fit a new badge if you wanted to use the nuts? I can't see how you could access the back of the badge as the radiator is in the way.

I think the rad and condenser have to come out Kev. I had a feel around while mine were out and felt what I presume were the nuts for the badge. I may be wrong though!Incidentally does anyone know how would you remove or re-fit a new badge if you wanted to use the nuts? Re: Nose badge nicked.
And I thought Lotus built the car around the wiper motor. It seems they actually began with the front badge and attached the rest of the car to it!

Re: Nose badge nicked.
To get at the badge nuts, I removed the radiator undershield, and drilled a 2"(approx) hole in the air intake floor underneath the badge, used a spare rubber bung to seal the hole afterwards,(same size as the headlight manual raising screw, access hole/bung). Hope this helps. Jeff.
P.S. I have a spare oval badge if you're still without, good black enamel but some gold polished off, £5 to cover postage.
