Why does the paint on these cars always look so much better than mine ? (and no, Jerry, it's not because this one is blue).

Angus, I'm sure we all think the same when seeing pics of other people's cars!

One of the bugbears with my last Excel was the hundreds of micro-blisters all over the paint. But whenever I took a photo - or viewed recent For Sale pics of it online - it looked like it was fresh out of a showroom. Same with my current car. Front third of bonnet covered with stone chips, but whenever I take a photo - perfection!!

On the plus side, the same effect generally applies when people view our cars from a few feet away.

Why don't you just stick another engine in it or rebuild the original one. Does seem a shame when there are loads of rough ones out there for chassis swaps. Why did the engine die?
You might get more interest with a price delivered to the Uk and some idea of what is salvageable from the engine, is it repairable or does it need a whole new engine.

Does seem a shame if this is to be broken for spares, Im sure the engine could be rebuilt.

What was the cause of the engine failure? Is any of it salvageable?

Holland probably.
Bauke is our Dutch spares supplier...or at least has become in recent times.

Engine apart, it does look a lovely one - and I agree a shame to break. But your car, Bauke, so yours to with what you will! :D

Whilst my favourite Excel colours are probably red and the BRG, I've always liked that blue (sorry, Angus). Is it Pacific?

That is of course pacific blue you quote as the best colour. Not chav blue. Sorry I mean Essex blue.
