I've never been before, but it looks interesting so I plan to go this year.

(There's an English translation - If you don't see a Union Jack try clicking on the French flag once or twice!!)

Anyone else interested?

Fancied this for many years but always coincided with kids going back to school/uni etc. Looks excellent but fully spent this year for holidays so next time perhaps for me. If you do go take plenty of pics 8)

The Lotus Eclat, a lot like the English Whisky company: comes from Norfolk and better than you are often told it is.

Hi Tony, last summer we spent a couple of weeks in a great holiday cottage at Beaulieu Sur Sonnette, near my brother's house at St Sulpice de Ruffec. It's about 50 km north of Angouleme and the owners, Steve and Mel, often have visitors who stop there as a base to visit the Circuit des Remparts. I looked online and seats in the stands round the circuit for the Sunday race seem to be fully booked. I'm interested but would prefer to be sure of a ticket for the Sunday and they sell out early.

Well, if I was right all the time I'd get to be predictable!

Chris,

As you say, grandstand seating tickets have all sold out. I've got a general entrance ticket, and hopefully it will be OK in the general viewing areas (wherever they are!)
My only comparison is Goodwood, where you don't need a grandstand seat to see a great day's racing.
There's also some 'round the villages' tours for non-racing cars, which I hope I can join.

This could be an 'interesting' experiment :-)

Looking forward to getting your report on this event on your return (with lots of photos)! Looks like a good event, and not too far from one of our favourite spots - La Rochelle. Could be up for this next year. We had a great time a couple of years ago at a similar event in Pau.

Tony, did you buy yours online? Where are you planning to stop and have you decided dates yet?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris
I purchased my ticket on line, for collection at the event.
All the hotels in Angouleme were fully booked weeks ago, so I'm staying a few miles (~ 15) away at http://www.lenhautdesvignes.com/, between Angouleme and Cognac.
There is a web site listing hotels etc for the event at http://www.circuit-des-remparts.com/facilities-45.html
I'll travel from Portsmouth to La Harve Wednesday evening, drive down Thursday (it's about a 5 hour drive), stay 4 nights, leaving Monday morning.
I'm then continuing south for a short break to visit friends & family.

I'll be on my own as my wife declined the offer of 3 days of old car races and more then a week travelling in the Lotus!

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the information. I'm in Sicily at the moment (family holiday at Brucoli, on the coast near Syracusa).
I'll take a look next week when we get back home. I've asked a couple of friends if they're interested - will find out when we're home.

Sorry Tony. I won't be able to come along - older daughter needs to be ferried to university that weekend.
I hope you have a great time.

There's a fair chance I'll be there but without the Lotus, since we may be staying some 3 hours south of Angouleme with friends at that time.
If you do go with your Excel make sure you park in the Champs de Mars where they have a free special car park for interesting cars.

Hi Stu. I'm tempted to stop over at my brother's place about 60km away (St Sulpice) and give it a go.
