and ive owned over 300 cars so far ( never been wealthy enough to buy a new one tho ! ) and yet still have never found a perfectly designed or built car anyway.....................or anything else for that matter.

..not the case if you enjoy mechanics!!

I'm a car enthusiast and owned less than ten cars in 43 years - only made possible by having a hands-on approach, a problem-solving nature and a lack of trust in garage mechanics :D - oh yeah, not forgetting the Rootes factory apprenticeship :roll: .

BTW I was told by Gary Kemp last week that the 900 series engine is related to the Coventry Climax-derived Imp engine by virtue of one of the designers (forgot his name) -and having recently taken apart a 912 engine I see that they do indeed share DNA.

I must say I like a good "tinker". I used to have a Triumph 2000 that never went wrong and all I could do is wash it and service it, got rid and got the excel........aaaaahhhhhh that's better!! :lol:

interesting that the only reliable things in my imp and elite were the engines ,albiet both under powered. still not enough to move them up the list. :D :D
