Hello
I'm just curious, how many of you out there are using your Excel as everyday car. Got my Excel back on the road 4 weeks ago after the head renovation and can't stop using her, I bought her as a classic weekend car but shes so fun so im using her to got to work. Must say that i have a windling country road to work, 13 minuites with the Volvo and 6-7 minuites with the Lotus :D :D :D :D

Yep, almost every day, except when I take the Esprit!

Who needs a sensible car?

I bought mine as a weekend 'Classic' but find myself using it more and more.

It seems to run better the more used as well.

Unfortunatly I'm not mechanically minded enough to do my own servicing so the trip to the Lotus Specialist comes round quicker :D

Mine worked best when I was doing 140 miles a day in it! Nothing had a chance to cool down, let alone seize up :-)

Like Angus, if not daily then every other day.

I split the mailage about 4K each on the Lotus and the Pug.

ASDA, definately Pug. I found a tyre mark across the front bumper a few weeks ago. Guess it was a Chelsea tractor whose drivers was on the phone and doing her makeup while changing the CD at the same time.

Work and weekend runs, Lotus. Mostly.

20k miles in less than 12 months.

It would have been about 3k more but I keep on breaking it :(

I've had a few "moments" on twisty Pennine roads in the bad weather, but nowhere near as bad as I feared when I bought it.

Used 5/6 days a week for work plus the occasional evening. Now got unlimited mileage on the insurance so occasional may become more frequent.

Everyday, except when I take the Esprit or the Elise ...

I think the Excel will tend to have more Gremlins when used irregulary. I had the Excel as my only car for 5-6 years without any serious problems.

I used mine every day for a number of years. Its been on a classic policy for the last couple and used as a toy. I seem to have had moere minor problems since doing that, it was better as an everyday car.

I used mine everyday for the first 4 years for the 9 mile journey to and from work. It sometimes returned as low as 17/18 MPG, but I did have to go up a long steep hill (Bluebell Hill if you know the area).

No real problems, just routine servicing mostly.

.... and if you have read my bit in the "two fuel caps" thread then you know how dangerous Bluebell Hill can be to Lotus Excels!

Never had a problem on Bluebell Hill, nor with my S3 Esprit when I had that. I think that guy must have been really unlucky.

Have used my SE daily for the last eleven years as my only car, with no intention of changing. It makes driving to work worthwhile.
