Hello All,
I had a pin hole leak on a high pressure steering hose and have ordered replacement hoses from sjsportscars. I'm based in Cork and sadly mechanics here who will work on older vehicles are few and far between.
Is the replacement a reasonably straightforward job - doesn't need the engine out or anything drastic (something a standard garage should handle ok?) Also is it right to say the power steering is based on Ford parts? Appreciate any suggestions so I can try to identify a garage that can help!
Cheers
Rich

Hi Rich. Any ordinary mechanic can fit it. No engine out.
You may have trouble freeing the hoses at the steering rack as the pipes tend to rust in and break off if you are too impatient.
You might have a fight finding how to remove the steering pump as the bolts are not readily visible. All you need is patience, convince an enthusiast to do it.

The rack is modified Ford, the pump is either Hobourn or GM Saginaw depending on the age of the car.

Thanks to you both for the replies - that is a relief to know it's a non specialised job and the components are Ford modified.
I noticed the leak only a few days after buying the car and am desperate to get it back now and start driving it!
