Re: Jaguar XJS front seats
Yes done and still got them installed. Bolt Fitment front to back is spot on 13 inches IIRC. Side to side I found them 1/2 inch out so mounted one side on a spreader bar holding the bolts 1/2 inch over. Some say they go straight in. Mine are Recaro type from a convertible but don't know if they are any different to standard saloons. I have piccies on the forum but need to sort out the transfer from bucket to new hosting site.

They would - you had already viewed them on Photobucket and your browser was loading them from its cache. Everyone else just got the Photobucket FOAD message.Hawaiis0 wrote: They worked yesterday in pre-view

Re: Jaguar XJS front seats
Hi Stuart, Thanks for the pics & info - I have just acquired a pair of XJS seats, but they didn't come with the metal seat runners - would you know if the runners on the existing seats would be the same and hence just 'bolt on' ?

Re: Jaguar XJS front seats
Bolt distance front to back for Lotus runner to seat is 13 inches. I think you may be able to "flex out" the Lotus runner to fit if the jag holes are 13 inches too. However, you will still need to jiggle the width fitting to the floor width +1/2 inch, whatever you do.Sirclip wrote:Hi Stuart, Thanks for the pics & info - I have just acquired a pair of XJS seats, but they didn't come with the metal seat runners - would you know if the runners on the existing seats would be the same and hence just 'bolt on' ?
I saw some jag runners on fleabay but pricey, go for universal ones

Re: Jaguar XJS front seats
I'm not sure if I was clear enough - the seats I have are Jag XJS without runners. I currently have the original Excel seats fitted, so wanted to remove the original seats, remove the runners from them, then fit the runners to the Jag seats - Do you think that this will work?

I cant see the Jag seat to runner holes, so I cant see the distance on the seat between the runner mounting holes. I measured the Lotus runner mounting holes to the seat as 13 inches. If the jag runner to seat mounting holes are 13 inches i think the lotus ones will fit. However, you will still need to add 1/2 inch to the seat (with runner) to floor mounting bolt width.
Any clearer?

Re: Jaguar XJS front seats
Thanks, a little. I think the only way to be sure is to see if they'll actually fit onto the Lotus runners, along with a 'spreader' between the runners and the body mounting holes. Thanks for your advice.

Re: Jaguar XJS front seats
Well I am a bit frustrated. Drove the 30 miles to see the 'XJS' seats and there were in fact XJ seats. Too high, too wide and no tilt mechanism to allow people to get to the back seats.
The search goes on.
