Re: New comer - Progress (edit)
The SA utilises the gearshift binnacle from a 80's BMW. Unfortunately, I believe LHD ones too, as the lever position markings are on the wrong side for RHD viewing.
However, I came across another insert panel and had an idea
This is what I had:

This is what I found:

The panel pops out easy. Can anyone see anything extra in this shot?

The new pops right in. But how to illuminate?

Using a strip of pcb, some blue LEDs; some miniature magnetic reed switches and a switched 2032 battery holder I got illumination

No LED for Park so no circuit is energised - my "off" position. Back to piccy 3. Did you see the magnet?
Here is Rev, Neutral, Drive and 3rd for show. I wont bore you with 2nd and 1st (might need a tweak anyway
)

Brilliant! Is the new insert from a RHD car? Love the idea of the magnetic switches

Very clever. You should post a wiring schematic (circuit diagram) for reference in case someone wants to reproduce the mod.

Excellent photo Stu. As an aside did you ever sort out your problem of stalling when put in gear? If so would you share your solution for us fellow SA owners?
