Excel rear light cover
Does anyone have for sale an off side rear light cover (Rover SD1 type) or complete light cluster for an Excel please. I also need a near side front indicator/side light cover (orange indicator and clear side light).

For the front indicator lens you'll have to be very specific as there are at least two original types.
There's one with a circular ring pattern (centred around the lamps) and a squares pattern (lines of squares in a straight grid). Those are generally available from agricultural vehicle spares suppliers (Tractors).

Re: Excel rear light cover
I may. It is either the lens OR a full unit correct?
Edit: where are you based?

Re: Excel rear light cover
I carefully avoided reversing into my elan and hit the corner of my house instead.
I bought replacement units from PNM (not cheap though). They are listed as Esprit but are the same as ours. I think they supply front indicators as well. As they are mounted upside down compared to the Rover you will need to drill drain holes in the top, which when you fit them would then be the bottom.

Re: Excel rear light cover
All good advice, thank you. Stu has come up trumps, so rear lens sorted. I broke the front indicator one when a crate fell off a lorry at 70mph on the M27. I got off lightly. The car is currently at Bell and Colvill who will attempt to fix the broken near side exterior door handle. I may be back on line asking for more parts soon.............. B&C did a great job on the wheel bearings last year. Perhaps they should fit a reversing camera or sensors.

I got sensors on mine from the last PO. Can be easily DIY installed off fleabay.
Were the Wheel bearings the rear & how much did they charge if you dont mind. PM me if you rather.

Re: Excel rear light cover
B&C: they did all four wheel bearings. I got the parts from LotusBits, who are great but often very booked up so I have started to use B&C. The B&C labour bill was £600 plus VAT. I took some advice from this forum and I am told the rears are very tricky, so whilst I am sure this was no bargain, it is I think a fair price for tricky work and they are a Lotus main dealer. I generally avoid any main dealers unless a car is under warranty but B&C have always had a very 'specialist', as opposed to Main Dealer, feel and attitude. They also checked the bearings 1000 miles later at the MOT, free of charge, after further info from the forum. Justin

Re: Excel rear light cover
Re the front lights, I think you should treat yourself to a pair of new lenses from SJSports. Seeing you done so well on the rear.

Re: Excel rear light cover
I am now after a near side exterior door handle, as my previously repaired one has broken. I spoke to LotusBits who said they can repair it so I will send it off them. Apparently these are not available new though Kelvedon and SJ are showing some. £140 plus, so I think I will go for the repair. Slowly getter there. Rear light lens - your generous spirit is much appreciated! I would have waited for an autojumble rather than E Bay so you have saved me trekking around a field for one. Justin
