I think so. I was looking for a 1987/88 MY for about a year. Finally I found a 1989/90 from a club member, there are only a few difference in the relays and fuse box.I had a Eclat Excel owners manual , I put it on sale and I sold it in a few days

A few have cropped up on Ebay but at silly prices. I dont think there was a specific one for my 84 which had to get by with the above Eclat Excel booklet.

Is there a chronology of when handbooks were modified/ reissued? I.E. which handbook came with which car?
As I said above my 84 has an Eclat/Ecel handbook even though this one is badged as an Excel. Would there have been a dedicated handbook for it?

... thinking about it, the iddities with my car are that it has no clock, the Sparomatic radio being used for that, and that there were as yet no foglights fitted. Would that have justified a separate book? If you have the handbook that came with your car and can send me a jpeg of the cover page plus year and model of your car I can add a chronology to the brochures listing maybe?

My older daughter is a photographic art student and one of her specialisms is book binding (I don't know why either). I asked her if it might be possible to replicate the Excel handbook, so she took a close look at mine. The vinyl binder may be difficult to source but could be printed and made. The handbook itself is fairly simple. The content can be image copied at suitable resolution, printed on suitable paper and stapled but is presumably copyright of Lotus Cars. I don't know if there is any interest in having some made but if so I can look into it (or Rachael can :D )

I'm pretty sure that, as a club, we could get permission, from the factory, to reproduce that sort of copyright material. Given that's it's really only of use and interest to owners and a few other peculiar people, it's not exactly going to be a large market lost to them.

I have a handbook cover but no pages - I would be interested in any reprints but also happy to defer any costs plus something for the trouble if any member would photocopy the owners manual for an 89 SE until I find an original one.

Regards, Adrian.

Rachael has just headed back to university but I have asked her to investigate sourcing the materials required.
How would we go about requesting use of the logos (for the vinyl binder) and technical content?

I can do that. Same contact as gave us permission to distribute the parts manual.

Rachael is linvestigating binder materials and printing of logos, plus fonts and booklet print options. As I only have my copy of the handbook (in tasteful green vinyl binder with stapled spine), do we know of other variants to include? Also need to check variation in tech. content with years and models. Perhaps compare different handbooks at a meeting later this year?
