Welcome Neil! Is that a vinyl roof on your Eclat?

I also think the black plastic convoluted tubing in that ad would look better than the aluminium version.

Mine was replaced with some specific induction noise reduction trunking which goes all the way to the LH side of the radiator. Looks like a knitted elephant's trunk. Have since fitted a second one of the ebay sourced radiator fans.

Thanks everybody for the advice. I wonder if a piece of foam tubing like pipe insulation pushed inside would do the same?

The air filter should stop that.
What car is that?

I have this missing on mine and have been looking for pictures of what the open end looks like / where it sits. Can someone post some pictures that will help? Thanks.

The open end on mine has a black plastic half doughnut shaped fitting, mushroom shaped in section, stalk wedged into tube.
I couldn't see why the tube travelled across the bottom of the radiator, mine is ended vertically with a tiewrap to the right of the rad., no noticeable increase in noise, and makes removing the airfilter cover so much easier. Jeff.

If you can use a shorter piece of tubing, I wonder if this tubing from a 2cv would work?

I have a long tube with no filling and this is quite noisy!

I invested in the SJS trunking which as you know has no internal foam.
As I do not live in a cold climate I have no need to take warm air from behind the radiator.
I have installed a short, 20 cm., trunking and have the original trunking mouthpiece which I believe is important for air entry flow.
I have no interior foam as there is no length to create or dampen noise and personally would not risk
having unknown foam inside the air duct, even with the air filter after it.
In my opinion the appearance is quite cute. Sorry no pictures, don´t know how.
I see no reason why this version should not work in the UK unless you want the absolutely maximum power and therefore need to site the trunking mouth in front of the radiators. People ask where is the rest of the elephant.

Hi Neil

Going off topic here but I rather like vinyl roofs when they're appropriate for the car - ie 1970s era and I think the Eclat actually looks good with it. I think I may be a bit sad in this respect because I think they're now desperately unfashionable. I also like it when they colour match the roof to the car instead of just black vinyl - again very 1970s. Not sure I'd add one to a car that didn't have it though...

I believe that the reason for siting the mouth of the intake trunking behind the radiator is to minimise the variation in air intake temperature, not particularly to warm it. However I may be wrong!

Pete, I'd be interested to know if the vinyl simply wraps round the metal strips along the front of the roof and closely abuts the windscreen trim, or whether the lip of the vinyl also slips under the windscreen trim? Do you know?

Cheers, Richard
