Cambelt (again)

How much should I be paying for a replacement cambelt? The Lotus branded belt seems to be priced at around £80 but both SJ Sportscars , and PNM, offer one at under £30. Any recommendations?

If you are prepared to pay the extra go the Gates blue racing version

I think that providing your pulleys etc are in good order and you change it every 2 years as lotus say, a cheaper one would do. if you plan to make it last longer than 2 years and/or your pulleys teeth show wear, I would put a lotus one on.

If the cheaper one is a gates 5168NS that’s what I have fitted. Gates were the OEM for Lotus. The difference I could find when researching was that the above part is approx 1mm narrower as the Lotus part is a non standard width.
I got my last one from GMF and seem to recall it was about £20 2 years ago, so will be doing mine soon.

Many thanks for those replies. I don't think I really need a racing spec. belt. I think I'll go for the Gates item and be sure to change it promptly!
