I once had a roof tile from my house land on my Mercedes in the drive. My house insurer would not pay for the damage to the car even though it was a piece of the house that had caused the damage. They were adamant the damage to the car would have to be claimed on the car insurance. When I got my car renewal through it had nearly doubled and when I rang them to ask why they said it was because of "the accident I had been involved in" and claimed for, I explained that i had not been involved in any accident as I had been asleep in bed when a roof tile came off the house in a storm but to no avail. My motoring no claims bonus was void through no fault of my own.
