I know of someone who replaces roof linings for Bell & Colvill in west Surrey. I was going to get him to do my 1979 Elite, but then I sold it! If anyone is interested and can't reasonably take his/her Excel to Lotus in Norfolk, I'll find out what he charges and how long he needs the car. Derek

David Royle at Staindrop came up with the comedy figure. The more sensible one was through KevW.

Don't suppose someone could post some pictures of the A-Post (the one that runs up the side of the windscreen)...I'm in the process of trying to figure out whether its leather of the fabric material that's used on the headlining.

Thanks.

Is it just me or does it seem odd that the rest of the car has the fabric material from the waistline of the car upwards apart from the A posts.

Can anyone think of a good reason why I can't use the fabric instead?

Personally, I think the fabric would look better and I kept some off-cuts from when I re-lined the rest of the interior with this intention. It would be straightforward to insert the fabric under the door rubber and to make a lower seam, but it looks more difficult to get a good finish around the edge of the windscreen. A thinner, stiffer material (vinyl or leather) may be easier. Regards, Chris
