The loose one tightened to 40/45 lbs ft/ or roughly 60NM, felt good, then went to do the tight one and the bolt, flat bracket and glass fibre mat underneath the bracket moved, so it seems that the one I thought was tight was in fact very loose and has now seized itself in the chassis, feels as if it might snap if forced so leaving to soak over night after a good squirt of plus gas, fingers crossed tommorow

Bolt undid ok after soaking, tightened down one side then the other gradually to 60NM, drove car out of steep angled driveway and then test drove car, all groaning creeking from rear seat area disapeared, Happy Days

Has anyone tightened (or even just checked) these bolts without taking out the fuel tank?
Not sure if mine are a problem, although I have a suspicious noise that could be caused by this.
So I’d rather not remove the tank just to check them.

I definitely did not take the tank out of my 89SE (early chassis bolt position is slightly different IIRC). At most I may have undone the tank bolts to move it to one side. ... t'was 12 years ago though.
