Swedish, but we learn pretty much English in our schools so she will definitely understand but maybe not speak so good.

Didn't think I would be able to make it due to Mr Taylor relieving me of my savings  but missing out would have been too much to stomach. Really looking forward to the weekend now.

Are there many wives / women going? as my wife won't want to be the only female
Diane my partner is coming, even though she hates Loti with a passion......

My wife is also going.

As for anyone worried about the track session I would recommend "going for it" as I'm certain you will enjoy it. I'd never been interested taking part in racing or even participating in track days but a couple of years ago the opportunity arose to take my Excel around the circuit at Tockwith courtesy of Track Torque. I thought I may as well give it a go and to my surprise I found the experience pretty addictive. I wouldn't be surprised if I was the slowest driver there on the day as not wrecking my car was the most important thing to me but being able to take the engine up to 7 000rpm and get a feel of the car's chassis potential away from public roads was great fun. The Excel was never meant to be a racing car but the Lotus genes really become apparent on the track. My wife even enjoyed the experience as my passenger although she did go very quiet!

At the end of the day I could see the attraction of having my own track day car which is something I'd never fancied before. Don't forget Croft is a pukka international racing curcuit and I think having the opporunity to drive your own car around it is too good to miss. I know a lad who pays £200 per day to drive his Mini around Croft so the overall weekend package has to be really good value for money.

KevW is absolutely right - this isn't a "track day" in the usual sense. We're limiting the number of cars on track at any time and will be trying to put them into groups based on what you want to do. The instructor will be available to come out and give some coaching, as will a couple of other experience circuit drivers. It's about driving the car to your own limits - not exceeding them, and not about being the fastest crash in North Yorkshire.

That said - you don't *have* to go on circuit, but the option is there for everyone - either in their own car or as a passenger in someone else's. Those who've said they don't want to do it - you may well change your mind on the day...

Even if you don't - there will be other things going on in the paddock which do not present any of the risks you may associate with circuit driving. The charges (heavily subsidised by Lotus Newcastle) for the event include the hire of the WHOLE circuit facility, not just the track.

Perhaps the girls can organise their own girly event on track-day Sunday?

For the people in doubt about the track-day it's probably good to explain the rules that Crofts has?

I've been to a LoT (Lotus on Track) day and the rules there were simple.
NO out-breaking in corners.
Only overtake on straights when the car in front of you indicates that he/she has seen you
etc.

A few simple rules makes that every body can use the track safely and drive their cars home.

And please don't come with ideas about how she can reach the paddles with het to short legs. I'd like to keep 1 car for myself ;-)

I'm sure my car will do some laps - but I'll have to fight to be driving it.
