That sounds like an excellent (

) idea.
Yes, lets pick up on this when we are coming closer.....

I'm not sure when we should be making firm plans for Monaco, but as I'm about to book ferry travel for the Le Mans Classic I thought I should enquire. If Angus will be in Sweden for the week before, do we have any nominees for group leader? Also, if we intend to visit some of the historic motor racing venues, how far in advance must we book?

AAAfter looking forward to it since 2010 Claire and I will have to take our names off the list for the drive through France next year. This has nothing to do with Lotusexcel.net or any of its members.

It is with regret that due to personal circumstances I must remove Barbara and I from the list also.

Nothing too serious, I hope.

No, nothing serious. Just a follow on from my recent medical issue which may require some invasive action in the late spring.

The GP should be now on the 24-27.05.2012. Is the plan still alive?
BTW Lotus has other birthdays this year too: 60th anniversary of the company and the 50th of the first Elan. Lotus will honour this on Goodwood this year as primary sponsor

Without a volunteer to be group leader/liaison I'm not sure it can go ahead. We were talking about the Historic GP btw - two weeks earlier and far more civilised :

Goodwood doesn't involve clubs, unfortunately, but Cholmondeley have been in touch to ask about anniversaries...

Huzzah - we have a volunteer to be Prefect for the tour. I'll get on with sorting out arrangements in between the paying jobs.

Now here's an interesting development - the Mille Miglia starts on 17th May (i.e. not long after the Monaco Historic GP). Anyone want to extend the trip a little ?

Just Monaco for us please. Although did you see the Ypres event posting? Their Lotus day is also Thurs 17th May, so we could easily get there for the Wednesday night if leaving Monaco on Monday with two overnight stops en-route. Ypres to Calais or Dunquerque then very easy. Have you made any progress with any of the arrangements Angus?

Getting there, I have a route to Monaco with ferries for outward & return journeys, but we need to make our own arrangement for anything that happens after Monaco.
Ypres sounds like a decent plan to me - I guess the Mille Miglia is a bit too much

Please be aware that the law regarding speed cameras in France changed recently, and it is now an offence to have any device that identifies the location of cameras, including POIs in Sat Navs. Radar detectors were banned a while ago but "Les Bleus" have now banned everything basically.
The offence is having it so if you go to France ensure that the function in your Sat Nav is switched off before you enter France.
The penalty is up to 1500 Euros!!!
