Driving my SE for the first time in a couple of years yesterday, I was reminded how the engine 'fluffs' at very small throttle openings.
I vaguely remember reading years ago that this was due to the size of the progression holes or idle jets required to meet emission regs.
The problem could be overcome by slightly enlarging the idle jet or something similar. Many cars will have had this mod done by now, but does anyone know the details, so that I can mod mine?
Thanks

Yes, a split could cause problems. Mine is an '88 SE, and I think there are several different configurations of vacuum pipes. Mine has two F-shaped pipes connecting to the carbs (one limb of the F to each barrel) which then connect to a common pipe. I will check where it goes from there.ClanMan wrote:Make sure you have connected up the various vacuum pipes correctly (if you've got them on yours - mine's an 89SE) . For example a flat spot is guarranteed if the small rubber pipe to the airbox is split or omitted.
Thanks.
