I always thought they were excellent - do they still have the proper glass in?

Should be electric?? So adjustable. Are the the actual casings moved out far enough? There is a grub screw under the plastic shroud next to the door this may need loosening and the mirror moved out then retightened. Also if the mirror turret has been broken then this may affect them the original turrets are very much prone to failure. Have you a parts manual the blow up in there’s should help. There is some great help on lotusesprit.com.

Thanks for the info, wasnt aware of grub screws will have a look in the morning, electric side works fine the bodies just seem to click round to about three positions no of which are right, either to near or to far out.

There are only three positions on the ratchet on the mirror turret, so the three clicks is right. The grub screw is probably the answer - or check the condition of your seat. I thought I had a mirror problem, but the seat base had collapsed so I was sitting too low in the car.

I too find the mirrors to be quite good for visibility, however, I have the driver side and passenger side mirrors set on different 'ratchet' points to be in the proper place for my visibility. I always feel like the car looks out of balance as a result
When you all say there are three ratchet points are you talking about all the way in (mirror to glass for tight parking) plus 2 points for driving. or all the way in and 3 driving points. I'm only tracking 2 points outside of the parking protected position.

It sounds as though you need to adjust the mirror using the grub screw tins will allow the mirrors to be be ballanced
