Back again l'm afraid to the subject of my early Excel windscreen wiper.
The motor has now been rewound and works perfectly.
Under the wiper gearbox cover is a gear with 170 degrees etched in its surface.
A cam under the gear causes a break in power at a certain point in the rotation to effect a park position.
A couple of questions if I may.
When I fitted the recommissioned motor, the wiper appears to give only 135 degrees of swept area. So it parks a quarter up the screen rather than at the base of the screen. If you view many pictures of the Excel online, some have their wiper arm at park slightly up the screen, some parked at the base of the screen. Is there a trick to get the arm parked at the base of the screen so giving the proposed 170 degrees of swept area. There appears to be two positions on the gear to place the park cam.
And secondly the splines on the spindle exterior wheel have worn. These obviously link in with the wiper arm splines. Both are worn badly. These I will have to replace. Are these Toyota parts or some common automotive substitute that I can obtain from an Automotive factor outlet?
I have read that replacing the spline mount that comes out of the body is a pig of a job and requires the dash out. Has anybody completed this task?

Re: Wiper park position
I have removed the wiper motor and you are right, it is a pig of a job but can be done. With the instruments out you can reach the motor. This link might be helpful and another link within itkiwiexcel wrote:Back again l'm afraid to the subject of my early Excel windscreen wiper.
