fuel filter
Hi ,where is the fuel filter on an Excel SE 1986 and is it fairly straightforward to change it?

In the boot, right hand side of the fuel tank, its an easy job.

Although it is some years ago I remember I found it extremely difficult to get the rubber gasket seated correctly when re-assembling the filter. You'd switched on the fuel pump and a lot of fuel would leak.
After many attempts I found I could only get the rubber gasket seated correctly by removing the filter housing completely, fitting the gasket and filter body so I could see what I was doing.
The problem with this approach is that the filter housing has the bolts in the wheel arch, and you need VERY long arms (or two people) to hold the bolts while you tighten the nuts inside the boot.
If anyone has suggestions on how to fit the gasket without getting leaks I'd love to know.
