Hi

Does anyone have a good reference source for guidance and instruction on how to do leather upholstery work.

I know it is proberbly best left to the professionals but it would be nice to attemp some of the simple panels and see how they turn out.

Any help on best place for materials/tools etc. would be appreaciated.

Hey Guys i just got my first lotus...
an Excel SE '88

it is going to need some serious TLC inside...

it currently is White, with a light grey cloth interior, i want to change this to a charcol/black leather interior.

i have just done the door cards, and dash on my girlfriends smart car, which worked really well... recarpeted it completely... in... umm... pink im ashamed to say...

anyway, do you guys have any good resourses for working with leather, where i can get the correct type of leather to use in refurbing the interior, seats, and anything else i may require (gear knob, hand break etc...)
was thinking of making the dash padded leather too whilst im at it...

any advice, or sugestions would be greatly appreciated!

cheers guys!

On the subject of leather care:

I'll be recovering my seats etc. using the original leather, but with new cloth.

I've had thoughts of treating the leather with something to keep it supple and in good condition. Apart from the various leather maintenanve products available for the "face" of seats, I thought it might be a smart idea to treat the reverse side since the seat covers will be apart.
It can be hot and dry in Australia and this might help extend the leather life a bit.

Maybe neatsfoot oil?
Thoughts or ideas?

Cheers, Gavin

Hi Gavin

When my coachtrimmer tried to recover my dash leather, he used Neatsfoot which he says normally works a treat. Go for it is my advise Gavin.
