hot air duct to diverter flap 1989 SA
Having removed the air intake system and replaced all of the vacumme pipes etc I notice that there is a flap in the Air Temp Control A.T.C. and there is a spigot for some sort of tube intake to go onto. of course said tube is missing. On the Parts Manual 42.1A the tube, B912E2350F, is illustrated but doesnt show where it collects the hot air from. There is a jubillee clip ilustrated at its end so assume it goes onto something to collect hot air. Tube is some 40mm dia.
Can anybody tell me where / how it terminates to get the hot air.

I think yours will have a tap off on the exhaust down pipe for the pre heat as we called it in the day

Ahh I had wondered why an exhaust pipe would have such an odd pipe attached.
Never seen anything like it before.
Now to find a pipe.
I have asked Lotus Bits so we will see.
Is it a rubber hose or a flexible hose of some sort as it it seems to be ilustrated?
Many thanks

Going by the pipe connection on the air intake a 38mm dia silicone flexy duct might do the job.
Next question is the route this duct would take which I assume goes between the head and the bulkheak but that does look very tight to me it must be said.
I cant believe it goes under the engine/gearbox but maybe it does.
Your guidance on this please.

Re: hot air duct to diverter flap 1989 SA
Hi there,
I replaced this on my 1990SE recently. It is the hot box pipe. from the connection at the exhaust end there are two plastic clips that cross the bottom of the engine bay that it runs through before heading up to meet the bottom of the air intake. Hope that helps.

When you say
"that cross the bottom of the engine bay" do you mean the hot air pipe runs under the engine to get from one side to the other?

Yes it runs under the engine and attached to the cross member with two nylon clips. Then it enters the downpipe hotbox via a spigot welded to the hotbox.
Mine is an orange very high temperature silicon spiral wired pipe from Demon Tweaks. The type of pipe seen on F1 cars.

Ahh I have found said two nylon clips still in place....thank you.
I dont suppose you remember the diameter of the silicone spiral duct from Demon Tweeks that you used?

Re: hot air duct to diverter flap 1989 SA
It's 32 mm or nearest. Just measured it. At the air intake end I slipped a plastic pipe stub into the hose and then that shoves into the inlet stub without clips and no damage when servicing pulling it in and out. So my plastic tube stub insert must be about 30 - 32 mm.
