Dellorto question

1988 Lotus Excel SE - sirs! this may be a question with a simple answer - I have changed idle circuit jet and holder to cure off idle stumble and I accomplished it - but the last time I started the car I had forgotten to replace the plugs for the vacuum ports - the engine seemed to be smoother and the idle raised 200 rpm - so is the engine telling me that the jetting is too rich? I put the plugs back in and the idle went back to the previous rpm - I do have smaller jets I can install, 55 to 53, if you all think it is necessary - Air/fuel ratio is at 13 - Could I go leaner and still cure the off idle stumble? Thanks for any comments!

There’s a really good guide from Tim Engel on how to set up the carbs - link below.
