Are they easy to swap out? Any reasonable alternatives available?

Cheers folks!

If I recall they are pretty straight forward.
Held in with a single nut accessible in the well for the headlight pod, as is the wiring connection.
So you maybe able to do it by removing just the headlight.

Anything small enough could be an alternative I guess.

You can use following to help search for correct type as they were used on other cars

GM Opel

Ask Lotusbits if they still have the vauxhall set in their office. I saw last time I was in.

Are you needing the whole unit or just the glass?

Thanks for the replies, apologies for not responding earlier.

I do need the whole unit ideally.

I was considering 3D printing some covers

I have some FORD escort (i think) bowls that are hung rather than rear mounted like the Excel . I'll post an image later. They carry the same glass lens unit as ours.

Where in the UK are you Radar.
I'd need to check exactly what, but I have an old spare pair tucked away.

As an aside to this thread my lens on the spotlights looked decidedly sand blasted after 150000 miles ( a bit like me), so I thoroughly cleaned the glass and sprayed lots if coats of lacquer onto the glass, after lots of sanding with very fine wet and dry and a polish they have lost the pitting and look almost new.

Bash
No photo because I cant do it, and I've run out of bananas.

Interesting. I’ve done that to a fair few plastic headlights, good to know it can work in glass.

Has anyone else noticed that the OE fog lights are actually useless in fog? With my car being a daily driver it has encountered fog a few times over the years and I found they make no difference to illuminating the road ahead. I ended up putting some cheap low power leds in mine and now use them as day time running lights
