Aquascutum Special edition Excel and Esprit.

Post by MetBlue »

Anyone heard of the Aquascutum?
For the Excel, it was a one off Special Edition, manufactured during the run of Celebration cars ( based on VIN sits between Celebration #16 and #17).

https://www.lotuscars.com/en/lotus-stor ... cars/excel - Scroll towards the bottom.

I assume the Esprit was also a one off, but not explicitly stated.

Yes, came across a brochure for one some time ago.

Copy of which is archived here on page 16 - https://lotus-library.com/car-badges-m-z/

There was another one off that was a prize for one of the car magazines.
It came up for sale about 5 years ago.

There's a picture in the web link on first post.
Googled Aquascutum earlier. They are a premium clothing brand, but like Burberry. I guess they approached Lotus with an "offer Lotus couldn't refuse" for a one off bespoke trimmed car in their materials. - pure guess on my part.

Thanks Alan

I had a look at the Lotus library site and it looks like it has a lot of good content, but I couldn't see a quick way of accessing the specific brochure you sent them.

Am I being dense? I couldn't see a search facility and the entries don't seem to be in any sensible (ie alphabetic) sequence?

Maybe I'm just getting too old...

Cheers

As above - click the link, then select page 16, scroll down and you’ll see a copy of the brochure cover.

Entries are all in chronological order.

Ah yes thanks Alan. I was being dense, I saw the link, missed the reference to page 16!

Interesting car, be good to see it in the flesh - did anybody on the forum buy it?

Cheers for the link.

Nice looking car, I could be tempted to buy that...

Do we know who owns it?
