Series 1 Propshaft yoke

Post by AndrewHarris »

Hi All, Reaching out to ask if anyone knows where I can source a "good" or "new" propshaft yoke for my series 1 5 speed gearbox. I believe it's take from a Vauxhall Victor from the same era? I have a few inquires out with Lotusbits & PNM plus tried BaileyMorris propshaft with nothing confirmed yet? The one I have is slightly worn and in combination with a worn tail end bush leaks oil so getting both repaired.
Thanks
Andrew

Thanks you, I was thinking about something similar as a option. I have had a quick look on the link with nothing jumping out at me as the length might be a issue? Have you used these yourself?

Never had the need to use one myself, but it's an accepted practice in trucks and tractors and other long-life applications

I'll have a look in my spares "stock" when I get back home later.

I've got a prop which I think came from my 1974 5-speed manual. The yoke is the type that slides directly into the gearbox (like the Excel) - it isn't a bolt-on flange in other words. The yoke tube is 1.375" o/d with 23 internal splines. The prop - from weld to weld - is 36" long with a bolt-on flange at the diff end. Does this sound like the type you're after? The yoke is in good condition (I waxed it after removal) and there is no discernable play in the u/j.
