I am getting my trim sorted with a local upholsterer and he is having difficulty with anyone to match the leather on my interior without charging an extortionate amount for the hide.

Has anyone got any good sources for leather. I am looking for about 6 sq M.

Haven't needed to acquire leather myself but here are some websites if they help.

Stockists for Connolly etc - some deals http://www.ukhide.co.uk/

These do various kits http://www.autotrim.co.uk/

Links to lots of suppliers (not necc. auto) http://www.theleatherconnection.com/id33.htm

No idea as to costs - sorry.

Peter,

Sorry but I must have missed your message first time round.

Seem to remember someone saying a while ago that the factory will do a re-trim.

Might be worth asking them for info on getting hold of the leather.

If you're spending that sort of money, Lotus also have a retrimming service that isn't too bad price-wise!

I asked Lotus May 06, here is the response, decided against it because of the neccesity to do the whole car (so it matched) when its only the drivers seat that has a couple of (sewn up) splits in it.

"We wouldn't be able to match the material or the leather on your car. We may get close to the leather but without a sample I couldn't guarantee it. To retrim seats to another spec would be around £350-£400 per seat. The rear seats around £600 for the complete unit and the remaining parts I would allow another £500. We have only had one Excel to retrim and that was around 3 years ago so it would be difficult to give a firm price for your retrim, however if we could look at the car we could get close."

The leather match, I understand from an upholsterer in Oxted, is a problem because Connoly (older cars) went bust, but also because the dyes are now water based.
