Three types of door mirror were used. The first was on cars with the
older type interior up to 85 model year. This was fairly rectangular in
shape. The second was the Rover type from 86MY and then finally the
89MY type.

Hi,
I understood both typed of "through-the-glass" mirrors were variants of Rover SD1 mirror.
But I think they have as much trouble getting them as we do!!

Its fits no problem and seems the same as far as view is concerned

Anybody got an idea of why the right hand mirror is different on a left hand drive car?
Thanks Mark

Ive got one of these too. First tip, look on the inside of the mounting plate where it goes against the glass. They some times have a locating 'tit', grind that off cos if you tighten it too much it will brake the glass. The problem with the LH drive mirror is that it doesnt adjust outward very much, although if you like to admire the car you will get an excellent view of the side of the car.

I noticed the little tit and cut it off beforehand
after fitting the mirror the view doesnt seem to bad ,hard to tell the difference over the original
When u say it doesnt adjust do u mean the mirror pivot or the electrical adjustment of the glass?
If the worst comes i can always fit the new cover/ mirror/motor to my original frame
Cant help but notice how cheap and nasty they are though!!
Like sumthing fitted to an 80s fiat!

Found out the differences between mirrors ,the mountain brackets are a different shape
there was play in my frame so i took them all to bits and used the best of the 2 mirrors
