ac voltage from pickup coil in dizzy?

Hi all,

Glad to join a great forum. My 89 Excel SE is not firing and the current suspect is the ignition module situated within the distrubutor. On measuring the pickup output ac from the two leads (which go the amplifier) I get around 0.15v on cranking - does that sound right? Seems too low to me...

The coil and amplifier all seem to check out ok. Any suggestions for replacement ignition modules?

Many thanks for any advice!

Hi and welcome.
Check the cable that runs from the distributor to the ignition amplifier. These are fragile/vulnerable and can break, which stops the engine from firing (it has happened to me).

And to me... Pictures and discussion here:

and I still have the spare cable that Tanz supplied me with - so it's available for testing if you want it.
