Does anyone have a spare one they are willing to part with, or is it off to the scrappy?
Alternatively, a good condition fan+cowl assembly with at least one working fan would do the job.

Re: Radiator Fan
Scrappy - it's a standard Ford part from Fiesta or Escort - Mk I Fiesta is a perfect match, others may required a bit of fettling to the loom to get plugs to match up. The fan is held into the cowl by three mounting bolts and is quite easy to replace without removing the cowl.

Re: Radiator Fan
There's one for sale on fleebay at the moment
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Fiesta-Mk3-1 ... otohosting
Postage cost is not too bad but if you bid and win you could ask the seller to only send the fan without the colw to reduce postage costs?
P.S. theres one bid on it at the moment. It that you Barker?

Re: Radiator Fan
Thanks for your suggestions gents, as always much appreciated.
The good news is that after two days of perseverance, I managed to get my original fan motor going. I carefully disassembled the back of the motor and found one of the brushes had popped out of its holder. There was plenty of meat left on the brushes, so I cleaned everything up, put it back together, and it came to life. It runs as well as the other fan, so I'm going to go with that for now.
I'm pretty sure both my fans are original, judging by the internal corrosion, but they look different from the Fiesta one on ebay, and different from the ones on a cowl offered to me by Matt of Lotusspares. Mine have a strange rubber connector on them, the same type as the one on the cable from the distributor. The motor and fan are a slightly different shape but the mountings look the same:

Anyway, problem solved...

Re: Radiator Fan
Well done by getting your fan back working.
The blades are different and not as thick as the original ones but the motor and mounting points should match perfectly. The only thing you may have to do is change the electrical connection.

Re: Radiator Fan
Thanks GJ1
Well it's all back in and working - my temperature comes back down a lot quicker with both fans going.
Just one small question left. Every time I've taken the bonnet off for jobs like this, I've religiously disconnected and reconnected the bonnet earth strap. Only this time I found that the other end of the strap was just tucked under the PAS reservoir pipes...
Where should it be connected to?
Speaking of taking the bonnet off, has anyone thought of some kind of quick release mechanism for it? Removing the bonnet just makes life so much easier, but those M8 x 40 (?) pivot bolts seem to take an age to get out with a ratchet!

Re: Radiator Fan
My bonnet earth strap is fastened to a stud at the front end of the exhaust cam cover, which also seems to be the earth for the after-market alarm......

Re: Radiator Fan
Thanks for that Chris, I'd kind of figured it was somewhere around there, the lead wouldn't reach anything else that was grounded!
