Usual culprit in these situations is the switch that the pedal should activate - it's either failed or gone out of adjustment.
Up at the of the pedal box.....

got any tips on getting to the bugger, just went out to check on a coffee break, and noticed theres a little play (back towards drivers seat) but nothing abnormal... cant see the switch...
think i need to adopt the "lotus possition" which is so well known on Seloc...

Sorry - no clues from me - I've had it happen on other cars....
Might be some access with the instrument panel out ?

this happened to mine and the fix was easy in my case...the brake pedal pendulum lever/mounting tends to BEND or TWIST with use (so does the clutch pedal lever ...especially with a heavy clutch) and buggars up the contact with the switch keeping the brake lights on.
If this IS the case with yours, then you just have to grab the brake pedal and twist it back into position...its frighteningly easy to do as there is very little resistance to bending/twisting (it's a 2 second job).

It really does just sound like it is stuck in.It's way up high, and it's the upside down slide down the footwell, with a head mounted light. After removing the curved trim panel, under the steering wheel.
