With some small modifikations to the headlamp pot it fits spot on.
Also the original plastic surround ring fits.
Regards Harald.

How difficult are these "small modifications" for someone with the thumb at wrong place/ not so good mecanic?
I wonder since i want to inprove my headlights, but xenon is illegal to convert to if not orginal equipment , in Sweden.

Simply fitting new 7inch pods and associated headlamps will make a dramatic improvement whether clear glass fronts or not (which I do think look nice).
To fit, you need the new equipment and either make a template or swear a bit about finding the right places to cut & drill.
Enlarge the hole enough that the bowl fits. Use a hand grinder or file.
Drill holes to accept mounting screws and use spire clips to give sufficient grip for the screws.
Drill a couple of hoes to allow the adjustment srews to protrude rearwards
That should be about it.
A morning's work.
Oh, then get some Osram +90% lamps. They are still 60/55w but more effective at producing light in the spectrum visible to most humans.

I made the conversion in august when changing to continent drive side.
I have an Autocad drawind, which I printed out and stick-glued to the pod - and then cutted to fit the Golf I-headlights. I can post an pdf-file, if you mail me: smedien"remove"@os.dk.
