Original radio wanted

I have just purchased a 1988 Excel SE but the radio has been removed.
Can someone tell me what the original radio would have been, and where I can get a used example of radio and front speakers?
I know nothing about radios so please do not blind me with science!
Thanks.

Clarion 950 or 920 radio-cassette are the options listed for 1987 onwards. I have a dead one in the garage somewhere if you want it (a modern Clarion with green lighting doesn't look too out of place IMNSHO).
There's another thread on here somewhere about replacing speakers...fronts are little awkward, but I did manage to find something which fits in the original plastic housing.

I'd recommend replacing all 4 - they're probably all in a bad way by now.

I suspect Lotusbits,
http://www.lotusbits.com/, would be a source of an original radio - I was there on Saturday and they have loads of spares from 'recycled' Excels, Esprit, Elites, Eclats.
