Crikey, the way things have been going recently, 3K GBP doesn't sound enough for a good late SE anymore...or is that just me?

Not just you - demand is increasing, supply is falling (or constant at best). We were quoting (and meaning it) £4.5k to £5k for a good one at the NEC show (and most people still thought was cheap - one guy reckoned a good Excel was worth at least £19k, but he didn't have his cheque book handy).
